I love this dreamy beauty portrait session I had last week with a most beautiful woman, of gentle and giving heart and strong will to follow her dreams.
The many faces of a beautiful child.

Glamour Portrait Session in my NYC sun filled Daylight Studio. The dress she wore was a vintage 1950s brocade. Beautiful.
I love catching an unposed portrait of a good looking guy. This wonderful man took a class at Splashlight Studio in NYC where I had the great opportunity of assisting the renown lighting and glamor photographer Janusz Kawa. He was teaching a class for NYC’s International Center for Photography (ICP) in New York on Lighting for Glamor. This was a moment behind the scenes. I will be posting some behind the scenes images I got that day in my next post.
New Dad & Baby Daughter
As you can see I’ve been busy photographing wonderful families and gorgeous women.
Below is a triptych of a tiny newborn baby girl with her daddy.I love how beautifully this new dad communicated with his daughter. Her tears and yawns did not fluster him in the least. Aren’t they wonderful!
Every little part of a baby is so precious. How quickly they grow. How important to cherish these moments. Here is mom softly holding little baby’s hand and a peek at some wiggly toes.
When a child is born we first begin to learn what love is.
Mother and Child. The greatest love.
A NYC Family: Mother, Father, and Tiny 10 Day Old Newborn
The new parents were full of love for their first portrait session with their newborn daughter. Mom was relaxed and gentle. Dad just knew exactly how to hold his new daughter and was so very comfortable, as I think you can see from a few photographs.
What a blessing to have the opportunity to photograph this new family.
NYC Glamour Portrait Session
A woman’s beauty is measured not by the number or depth of her wrinkles, nor by the color of her hair. Beauty is a reflection of how a one sees the world around them, what one does for others, and how one chooses to live. Compassion, curiosity, joy, love, generosity; these qualities create eternal beauty. I look into a person’s eyes. I watch their hands. I see some of their genuine self. And I see their beauty.
It always strikes me how self critical women can be. By whose definition have you determined you are not beautiful any longer! This woman, now retired, was highly accomplished in her past professional career and avocations. Envisioning of her youthful self she would speak of herself now as having lost her beauty. I kept telling her that not only did I think she was beautiful, but that she would believe me when she saw her Glamour Portraits and that she would have many images she would love to choose from for her Portfolio Box.
Before her session I visited her home and we selected three outfits and accessories. The day of her session she had hair and makeup done. I helped her through posing and slowly she became more comfortable in front of the camera. Of course she was all dressed up and ready to do something special after her portrait session.
Women give so much of themselves. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. Never doubt it. And never depend upon the mirror to define or validate it.
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY
Every woman owns her beauty.
Valentines Day is coming up. I must admit I don’t make a big fuss over it. Actually, I’m very kind to my husband. I go out, buy myself some chocolate, a new color nail polish or something nice from L’Occitane. Then come home and tell him “darling thank you for my valentine’s present.” Easy and we’re happy all around. But having my portrait done for a V-day gift? That I would like.
And, I do love the color red, and also playing dress up. Not the, “I have to go shopping for something to wear” kind of dress up. But the, “oh let’s make something dreamy or gorgeous or playful, but definitely something new!” kind of dress up.
So - with Valentines Day coming, and me a portrait photographer, I had to take some portraits after buying a load of red, black and cream tulle. That, a little creativity, a lot of fabric draping and collaboration with a fellow photographer Kamila Harris, and a great make up artist, Lola Schmidt —- and VOILA. GLAMOUR.
Here are a few of the resulting images. You are invited to book a session for this coming Valentines Day (hurry up though) or for another time when you too want to feel special. rima@rimaberzin.com

Portrait Day for Project Open
What a busy week it’s been. I lead a charity event for Project Open which serves seniors and their families for an Upper West Side Community. The photo sessions were open to any all friends of Project Open. It was a terrific success thanks to a fabulous group of photographers, volunteers, including a make up artist. I can’t wait to show you more of the portraits I took. But here is one of a couple that obviously have great love for each other.
I always think of pastels when I think of mothers and babies.
You can see a few more Mother and Baby photos on that dedicated page of my blog.
